Google has started rolling out the April 2025 update for the Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Watch 3. The update is based on Wear OS 5.1 and Android 15, with the build number BP1A.250305.019.W.

The update focuses on fixing bugs and making improvements. Users have reported issues like delayed notifications, which this update should address.

After a previous software split, all six models of the Pixel Watch are now running the same build. To install the update, users can go to Settings > System > System updates on their watch and tap on the “Your watch is up to date” screen to start the download.

Turning off Bluetooth can speed up the update process by forcing a Wi-Fi connection. The update still has the March 5, 2025 security patch. Google plans to release Wear OS updates every three months, so the next big update should come in June.

Minor patches and app updates will still happen between the major updates to improve the user experience. In a surprise move, Google also released an April feature drop for the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3. This update brings essential fixes and adds a new feature called Scam Detection.

Scam Detection (in-call) is now available on the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3 when paired with a Pixel 9. This feature was first available on phones and now works on the watch. It tells users about possible scam calls right on their smartwatches.

In March, Google improved Scam Detection with AI for the Pixel 9 series.

The AI can recognize common phrases scammers use and warn users in real-time.

Now, this feature is on the Pixel Watch so that users can get notifications about potential scam calls on their wrist. This is helpful for people who answer calls from their watch, use headphones, or haven’t taken out their phone yet. To turn on Scam Detection on your phone:

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Tap More Settings > Scam Detection.
  3. Turn on Scam Detection. The Pixel Watch’s April 2025 update should fix several bugs, like delayed notifications and syncing problems with Fitbit.

However, the security patch is still from March 2025, not April 2025. The update’s build numbers show minor bug fixes. Google hasn’t released official notes yet, but the update is expected to fix issues from the March 2025 build.

To get the latest update, users can go to Settings > System > System updates and tap the “Your watch is up to date” screen multiple times.

Scam Detection works over Bluetooth and uses the paired Pixel phone to identify scams. It won’t work if the call is answered directly over LTE on the Pixel Watch.

The April 2025 update for the Pixel Watch should fix problems from the March update, improve the user experience, and add the new Scam Detection feature for more security during phone calls.
