IBM has taken the wraps off a new Internet of Things (IoT) development tool called Quark. Available under an open source license, Quark is based on the IBM Streams tool for processing live data. IBM has also submitted a proposal requesting that the Apache Foundation accept Quark as an incubator project.
Quark allows enterprise application development teams to write software that accepts live data from IoT sensors and devices. For example, it could be used to track the health of diabetic patients wearing monitors or to track the status of workers in hazardous conditions like mines or oil rigs.
