At the recent OpenWorld/Java One event, Oracle offered some details about the forthcoming Solaris 11 operating system. Now available to developers in a feature-complete “early adopter” release, Solaris 11 is the “first and only fully virtualized operating system,” says the company. They claim that its built-in virtualization capabilities offer “zero virtualization overhead,” and they tout its “proven parallel capabilities” for deploying and managing cloud environments.
More information about developing for Solaris 11 is available through the Solaris developer forums.
