Dr. Erez Druk and Dr. Gabi Meckler are a husband-and-wife team who created Freed AI, a note-taking program for doctors. Dr. Meckler, who spent hours writing clinical notes, joked with her husband about creating something to write her notes for her. Dr. Druk took the idea seriously and built a simple proof of concept using a customizable version of ChatGPT after getting positive feedback from another clinician friend, Dr.
Druk worked on making the program compliant and solicited feedback from other clinicians to refine it. Dr. Meckler began using Freed daily in her own practice and found that it saved her time and reminded her of important details she might have missed.
Enhancing clinical efficiency with Freed
The couple collaborates closely on Freed AI, with Dr. Meckler holding weekly office hours with the product managers and designers to offer her perspective as a clinician. Freed aims to give time back to clinicians, allowing them to use it as they see fit.
One of the most loved features of Freed is the inclusion of patient instructions, which provides a summary of the visit and clear instructions based on the action plan created during the appointment. The team is also building a document analyzer to summarize clinical documents and allow users to ask questions. Since launching in January 2023, Freed AI has been a labor of love for the couple, with Dr.
Druk is learning about medicine and focusing on the most important things to improve the program. The couple sees Freed as a love letter from them and their team to all the clinicians.
