The release of the Ludendorff Cemetery Survival mode for GTA Online has driven a massive influx of players, with 400,000 rushing into the game within the first 24 hours. The mode combines a wave-based survival experience with a return to North Yankton, the snow-covered town from GTA 5’s opening mission. Players have eagerly awaited both a zombie-fighting experience and the chance to freely explore North Yankton, a location previously accessible only through glitches.
In GTA 5, North Yankton is the setting for a prologue where Trevor and Michael rob a bank. Now, fans can explore it without any hassle. The popularity of the new mode quickly soared, with player numbers hitting over one million in the days following its release.
According to Twitter user Tez2, participation in the Ludendorff Cemetery Survival mode was 270% higher compared to GTA Online’s previous major event, Assault on ATT-16. This surge can likely be attributed to nostalgic memories of games like Left 4 Dead and the appeal of battling zombies in a Rockstar game, reminiscent of the Undead Nightmare.
Ludendorff Cemetery frenzy in GTA Online
A recent glitch is allowing players to visit North Yankton outside of the limited-time zombie survival mode. This method is possible without mods and is available on all platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. To access North Yankton in Freemode, players need to bookmark the Ludendorff Cemetery Survival Job, create a playlist, add another job involving flying vehicles, save the playlist, and play it.
When the survival mode starts, players must wait for the timer to end and then use an explosive to blow up their character. This will load the next job in the playlist, allowing players to explore the daytime version of the Ludendorff Cemetery and surrounding areas. The Halloween update for GTA 5 includes themed modes, missions like ghost photography, and weekly challenges that offer double RP and GTA$ rewards.
Players might even catch a glimpse of a UFO hovering over Los Santos. The Halloween event is time-limited, concluding on Wednesday, 23 October 2024. Grand Theft Auto V is available now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
