And I think there are still some upgrades we want to make to it, but we expect to be in production with Roadster next year. It will be something special,” Musk said. The Tesla Roadster, which was first unveiled as a prototype in 2017, has faced several delays over the years.

Initially slated for production in 2020, the launch has been pushed back multiple times, leading to skepticism about its eventual release. Earlier this year, Musk revived hopes for the Roadster’s production, announcing that Tesla would unveil an updated version of the vehicle at the end of 2024 due to the original design being seven years old.

The Roadster, an all-electric hypercar, boasts impressive specs, including a 0-60 mph time of 1.99 seconds, a top speed of over 250 mph, and a range of 620 miles per charge, thanks to a 200 kWh battery pack. Musk has also hinted at a “SpaceX Package” for the supercar, promising even more performance.
However, given the time that has passed since the initial announcement, the specs have already been matched or exceeded by other vehicles, such as the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire. Tesla will need to ensure that the next-gen Roadster stands out significantly in the current market. While enthusiasm for the Roadster remains high, potential buyers may want to temper their expectations.
Tesla has a history of missing deadlines, and there are concerns about the Roadster’s readiness for production. Only time will tell if the new Roadster will meet its latest production deadline.
