Samsung has launched the 990 EVO Plus SSD in Australia. It offers impressive performance speeds and is supported by PCIe 4.0 and 5.0.
The 990 EVO Plus comes in storage capacities up to 4TB. It has sequential read speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,300 MB/s.
This is a performance increase of up to 45% over its predecessor. The new drive uses Samsung’s latest 8th generation V-NAND technology. It also features a 5-nanometer controller and a nickel-coated heat shield.
These help minimize overheating and enhance power efficiency by 73%. Phil Gaut, Senior Director at Samsung Electronics Australia, said: “The 990 EVO Plus is built for laptop and desktop PC users seeking faster processing speeds and expanded storage capacity. As console games continue to integrate video streaming, the inclusion of PCIe 4.0 will provide a smoother experience while also futureproofing the SSD for PC and gaming advancements.”
The 4TB model has random read speeds of up to 1,050K IOPS and random write speeds of up to 1,400K IOPS.
