SentinelOne has announced new AI security posture management (AI-SPM) capabilities to protect and secure AI services in the workplace. These enhancements, built on SentinelOne’s Singularity cybersecurity platform, aim to provide customers with visibility and protection over both known and shadow AI cloud services within their environment. The new AI-SPM feature will assist security teams by discovering AI applications and models in use, detecting misconfigurations and vulnerabilities, and identifying potential attack paths related to AI workloads.

This allows organizations to harness AI’s benefits while mitigating associated security, privacy, and regulatory compliance risks. Early access to AI-SPM is currently available for existing SentinelOne customers, with general availability expected in early 2025. Recent surveys reveal that 65 percent of organizations were using generative AI in at least one business function, a significant increase from 33 percent in the previous year.

Major cloud service providers like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure have also introduced various ways to build, train, and host generative AI applications.

AI security posture management tools

“The power and benefits of generative AI are undeniable.

Yet, the very tools and cloud services that simplify and accelerate AI adoption are simultaneously opening up a new attack surface and potential regulatory risks,” said Ely Kahn, Vice President of Product Management at SentinelOne. With AI-SPM, we’re empowering customers to unleash the advantages of generative AI while providing security teams with the necessary visibility, insight, and tools to protect sensitive data.”

AI-SPM features within SentinelOne’s Singularity Cloud Security portfolio include:

– Discovering and gaining visibility into both known and shadow AI pipelines and models from cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. – Detecting and identifying vulnerabilities and misconfigurations in AI infrastructure to prevent data exfiltration and unauthorized access.

– Visualizing and analyzing potential attack paths with a graph explorer that showcases how adversaries could traverse and exploit the environment. – Managing and mitigating compliance risks by focusing on data policies and regulatory standards such as the EU AI Act and NIST’s Artificial Intelligence Risk Management framework. SentinelOne’s AI security posture management aims to ensure that organizations can confidently deploy and benefit from AI technologies while maintaining robust security measures.
