The 2024 Game Awards, held on December 12, has shattered its previous viewership records, amassing an estimated 154 million global livestreams. This marks a 31% increase from the 2023 show, which drew 118 million livestreams. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Game Awards’ significant viewership was achieved through streams across multiple platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, Steam, TikTok Live, X, Instagram Live, and Facebook.

The event saw impressive numbers from various platforms in China, such as Bilbili, Huya, Weibo, WeChat, Douyin, Zhihu, DouYu, Baidu, NetEase CC, Tencent Video, QQ, Kuishou, and HeyBox. In South Korea, it aired on CHZZK and Soop, and in Japan on NicoNico. The top winner at this year’s awards was “Astro Bot” from Team Asobi and PlayStation, which secured four awards, including Game of the Year.

Breaking viewership records in 2024

Other notable winners included “Metaphor: ReFantanzio” and “Balatro.”

According to StreamCharts, Twitch, YouTube, and other platforms outside the Asian and Pacific territories had more than 4 million peak concurrent viewers combined, marking an increase of over 10% compared to the previous year. Notable presenters at the 2024 Game Awards included Aaron Paul, Ella Purnell, Harrison Ford, Hideo Kojima, Isabella Merced, Khalid, Laura Bailey, Sam Lake, Shannon Woodward, Statler + Waldorf, Swen Vincke, Sydnee Goodman, Todd Howard, and Troy Baker.
