The Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG are the latest wearable devices from fitness tracking company Whoop. Founded in 2012 by Harvard University student-athlete Will Ahmed, Whoop has gained popularity among elite athletes such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Phelps, LeBron James, and Virat Kohli. The Whoop 5.0 offers improved sensors, better battery life, and automatic detection for over 145 activities.
It retains the sleek design of its predecessor while providing enhanced accuracy and expanded activity detection. The Whoop MG takes things a step further by adding medical-grade features like ECG capabilities and beta-stage blood pressure monitoring. It aims to elevate wearable technology by offering insights never before available in a single tracking system.
Whoop now offers three new membership plans, each bundled with a specific device and set of features:
1. Whoop One ($199/year): Comes with the Whoop 5.0 and includes activity tracking, recovery insights, sleep analysis, and a focus on women’s health. 2.
Whoop introduces advanced wearable devices
Whoop Peak ($239/year): Also paired with the Whoop 5.0, it adds daily vitals, stress tracking with guided breath work, and lifespan analysis. 3.
Whoop Life ($359/year): Bundled with the Whoop MG, it unlocks advanced features like ECG on demand, wrist-based blood pressure monitoring, and alerts for irregular heart rhythms. Customers can purchase the Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG on Amazon or directly from Whoop. Every plan includes the hardware, a charger, and 12 months of service.
For existing Whoop members looking to upgrade, there are two options:
1. Extend your membership, and Whoop will send the new device with your renewal. 2.
Pay a one-time upgrade fee of $49 for Whoop One or Peak ($59 in the EU) or $79 for Whoop Life ($89 in the EU). Despite the introduction of an upgrade fee, which has disappointed some users, Whoop remains one of the best tools for understanding lifestyle choices and tracking activity levels.
