Apple Won’t Allow Demos, Trials, Betas on Mac App Store

Apple has updated the News and Announcements page on its developer site with some new information about the Mac App Store, which is expected to launch in January. Unlike the iOS App Store, the Mac App Store won’t allow beta or trial versions. “Your website is the best place to provide demos, trial versions, or betas of your software for customers to explore,” says Apple. “The apps you submit to be reviewed for the Mac App Store should be fully functional, retail versions of your apps.”

The company also posted tips on making sure files are written in the appropriate location and creating custom controls.
