According to analysts at research2guidance, the market for third-party mobile app development is poised to take off. In 2010, mobile app development project revenue totaled $10.2 billion. However, the firm believes the market will reach $100.1 billion by 2015, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 158 percent.
In addition, the analysts predict that the type of app development services in demand will change significantly in the next few years. Currently, 96-98 percent of revenue comes from initial app creation activities, but the company believes that will drop to around 70 percent as maintenance, analytics, distribution and extension services become more important.
