Verizon’s first app store — V Cast Apps — didn’t do so well, so now the mobile carrier is trying again. The newly re-designed “Verizon Apps” storefront will integrate with the Chomp search engine for app discovery. Verizon Apps will come automatically pre-loaded on Verizon Droid phones, along with Google’s Android Market.
Verizon says that it plans to attract developers by guaranteeing promotion for their software. The company believes this will set it apart from the larger app stores where “their apps get lost,” said Verizon’s Kyle Malady.
