Facebook’s Plan for Mobile App Discovery

Facebook’s Plan for Mobile App Discovery

In addition to rolling out its long-awaited iPad app, Facebook this week extended Facebook Platform for mobile. Users of the social network’s iOS apps or its mobile Web site will now have three new ways to discover mobile apps:

  1. Bookmarks — If a user has previously used your app within Facebook, they’ll see a mobile bookmark that connects with the native version of your app or the App Store.
  2. Requests — Users can invite friends to use the mobile version of apps.
  3. Newsfeed — If a Facebook user sees a mention of your app in the newsfeed, they can tap to be connected with your app.

Mobile Web app developers will also be able to use Facebook Credits, although iOS developers will not.
