IBM Buys Software Testing Firm Green Hat

Just a few days into the new year, IBM announced that it would purchase Green Hat for an undisclosed sum. Green Hat makes software testing products that allow users to simulate how their applications will perform when deployed in a cloud computing environment.

According to IBM’s Charles Chu, Green Hat’s technology will be integrated into IBM’s Rational product line, which shouldn’t be too difficult because Green Hat was already a Rational partner and some of its tools already integrate with Rational tools. Chu said that the goal is to facilitate agile software development by making it easier to test applications.
