Forrester Advises Enterprises to Hire Open Source Developers

At a recent Forrester event, firm VP Kyle McNabb advised enterprises to considering hiring programmers who work on open source projects. “When looking at your talent, ask software developers if they work with open source. Even if it is outside their work, they’re probably keeping their skills set up,” he said.

McNabb also recommended that companies pay more attention to their enterprise application development staff in general. “We’ve outsourced a lot of the talent, [but] you need people internally. You’ve got to build the skills on your own,” he said. “Software developers are looking for an open environment, and for an organization that does not look at software as code, but as a means of creating experiences. [That is] treating software as part of the business,” he added.
