A new survey of 1,000 IT pros by Serena Software found that while Agile methodologies have caught on in enterprise application development teams, they haven’t eliminated all of the problems that plague the application development process. The report summary found that while enterprise developers think their development processes are strong, customers still aren’t getting what they need. And developers say that meeting their customers’ requirements is difficult.
In general, while the survey found that Agile software development techniques resulted in the creation of more applications, it didn’t necessarily result in better applications. “These findings are consistent across all industries that were surveyed,” said the Serena report. “Nailing what customers really want and actually getting it into their hands without many bugs are the things that IT organizations need to focus on going forward.”
