With 600,000 downloads to date, Appcelerator’s mobile development platform has become a very popular tool for building consumer-focused apps. Now the company is focusing on the enterprise. “I think there is a big shift towards business or employee-oriented applications” in the mobile development world, said Appcelerator CEO Jeff Haynie.
To meet the needs of enterprises, the Appcelerator Platform has improved analytics capabilities that allow marketing and line of business personnel to track key metrics. Those features can be used to monitor apps that weren’t built with Appcelerator development tools as well as those that were.
In addition, the platform has a new API Builder which makes it easier to integrate third-party APIs into apps built with Appcelerator Platform and also allows enterprises to build their own APIs.
