Avaya has made a host of new product announcements related to unified communications (UC). Most notable from an enterprise application development perspective is the Avaya Aura Collaboration Environment, which makes it easier for developers to add UC to their applications. “While we’ve had the premise of ‘communications-enabled business processes’ for the last 10 years or so, real-world implementations have been hampered by the complexity of development, a challenge Avaya hopes to solve,” explained Irwin Lazar, an analyst for Nemertes Research Group.
At the same time, the company also announced IP Office 9.0, an updated version of its collaboration tools for mid-size enterprises, and the Avaya Messaging Service, a tool for adding security and compliance to corporate text messages.
