AWS Brings in $1.824 Billion in Quarterly Revenue

For the second time ever, Amazon has broken out quarterly financial figures for its Amazon Web Services unit, and they are impressive. The cloud computing business brought in $1.824 billion in the most recent quarter, a substantial improvement from last quarter’s $1.566 billion and an 81 percent increase year-over-year. International business now accounts for 8 percent of AWS revenue.

Overall, Amazon reported earnings of 19 cents per share on revenue of $23.2 billion, surpassing Wall Street estimates. That sparked an increase in Amazon’s share price, bringing its market value above $250 billion. Amazon’s market value now surpasses Walmart’s for the first time in history.
