At its re:Invent developer conference, Amazon Web Services (AWS) unveiled a new offering called Kinesis that will provide cloud-based infrastructure for the Internet of Things. Kinesis enables real-time processing of high-volume data streams, including data that comes from machine sensors. Pricing is based on “shards,” a unit of Internet throughput and details are available on the AWS website.
AWS also announced two other new cloud computing services at the same time: a PostgreSQL offering and new EC2 instances for compute-intensive workloads.
