Dell has launched a public beta of a new cloud computing brokerage it calls the Cloud Marketplace. It provides a centralized interface for organizations to purchase cloud services from a variety of vendors, including Amazon, Google and Joyent.
According to the company, the Cloud Marketplace can help enterprises meet the sometimes conflicting needs of developers and IT managers: it provides enterprise application development teams with a way to self-service their cloud needs while providing IT managers with better governance and visibility capabilities via the marketplace’s console.
The Cloud Marketplace also allows organizations to compare the prices and services offered by various vendors.
