.NET Framework to Get Updates on Patch Tuesday

Microsoft is changing the way that it handles patches and updates for its .NET Framework. Beginning in October, it will release a monthly rollup on “Patch Tuesday,” the second Tuesday of each month, which is also when it releases updates for Windows.

“The .Net Framework Monthly Rollup is a single install that updates each supported .Net Framework version on a machine to its latest respective update level,” said Microsoft’s Stacey Haffner. “Each monthly rollup supersedes the last one, so you if you’ve missed the last few months of updates, you only need to install the latest rollup to update to the latest update level.”

Developers will have the option of installing only the security updates or both security and reliability updates to the framework.
