VMware has announced that customers who use its vCloud Air hybrid cloud computing service will soon have access to four Google cloud services: Google’s BigQuery analytics, Cloud Storage, Datastore and DNS services. “These services will be integrated into vCloud Air just like any other service, and customers can use their Google services under their existing contract, paying for what they use,” said Mathew Lodge, VP of cloud services for VMware. “The advantage is they get access to complementary services to what they already get on vCloud Air.”
Industry observers say the partnership could help both VMware and Google compete with the cloud computing market leader, Amazon Web Services.
