On Thursday, developer James Somers blasted Heroku in a blog post, claiming that the platform as a service had made changes that slowed performance.
Now Heroku has come clean, admitting that it made changes to its cloud computing service without informing developers. Specifically, it moved away from the intelligent routing features that it used to employ, and it now routes requests to servers randomly, increasing queue times.
“We failed to explain how our product works,” wrote Heroku’s Oren Teich. “We failed to help our customers scale. We failed our community at large. I want to personally apologize, and commit to resolving this issue.”
Teich added, “In this case, we did not succeed. But we will make it right.”
