IBM Launches CloudMatrix Cloud Brokerage Tool

IBM has launched a new cloud computing services integration tool called cloudMatrix. Based on technology IBM acquired when it bought Gravitant last November, cloudMatrix offers a gateway to public cloud services, including IBM services, as well as to in-house infrastructure. Essentially, it functions as a cloud brokerage, allowing users to select the cloud services that best meet their needs and budget requirements.

For enterprise application development teams, cloudMatrix offers the ability to estimate costs prior to building an application. It also includes tools for determining whether an app will be cloud-friendly.

For now, cloudMatrix supports AWS, Azure, SoftLayer, VMware vCloud Director and vRealize. It plans to add support for OpenStack and Google Cloud Platform in coming months.
