Microsoft Debuts Previews of Visual Studio 2013, .NET 4.5.1

At its Build 2013 event in San Francisco, Microsoft took the wraps off updated versions of two of its most important tools: Visual Studio and .NET. Microsoft had previously announced many of the features to be included in Visual Studio 2013 and .NET 4.5.1, but now the preview versions are available for download.

According to Microsoft’s S. Somasegar, “Visual Studio 2013 also makes it much easier for you as a developer to create your own connected applications. One key area of investment in this release is around Windows Azure Mobile Services and making it easy to provision, configure, develop, and deliver back-end services for your mobile apps. From within Visual Studio, you can now easily create new Mobile Services and edit them using the full power of the Visual Studio IDE.”

The new version of the Visual Studio IDE also adds numerous improvements for working with HTML and JavaScript.

The update for .NET concentrates primarily on bug fixes and adding capabilities for working with Windows 8.1
