The mobile development industry can no longer afford to ignore the Chinese market. New figures from Kai Fu Lee, CEO of Innovation Works, indicate that China’s smartphone market could be twice the size of the U.S. market within a year. Chinese consumers are snatching up Android handsets 2.6 times as fast as end users in the rest of the world.
As smartphone penetration has grown, app usage has also skyrocketed. Between the first and second quarters of 2012, app usage per user in China climbed 145 percent. And between the second and third quarters, app usage per user climbed another 223 percent.
