IDC has published the results of a new survey which asked U.S. enterprises with more than 1,000 employees to rank cloud computing vendors based on their quality of service. IBM took the top spot among infrastructure as a service (IaaS) providers, based on its availability, speed of provisioning, simplicity and overall cost. Second place went to Cisco, followed by HP, AT&T, Google and Microsoft. Amazon, which is believed to have the highest cloud computing sales, came in dead last.
“We believe this new IDC report based on actual client preferences underscores IBM’s overall leadership in cloud computing,” said IBM’s Jim Comfort. “IBM is investing billions in cloud to serve clients with the most comprehensive portfolio in the industry across infrastructure, platform and software as a service.”
IDC noted that survey respondents gave the U.S.-based cloud computing vendors good ratings overall.
