Apple readies OLED iPad launch; Tech event of 2024?

OLED iPad

There’s buzz that Apple is gearing up to release an 11.1-inch OLED iPad, despite rumors of initial production delays. If all goes well, we might see the shiny new iPad as soon as April.

Apple is also allegedly expanding its product range with new iPad Air and iPad Pro models, including a cost-friendly 12.9-inch iPad. That sounds like a name to watch out for.

The game-changer here is the incorporation of OLED display technology in iPads, a first for this year. This innovation brings deep black levels akin to the iPhone and Apple Watch, adding a whole new dimension to the user experience. Plus, the power efficiency improvements mean less battery stress and consequently, longer usage time.

Coming off a staid 2023 iPad hardware-wise, Apple is set to shake things up in 2024. The main attraction here? OLED technology, previously gracing two generations of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, signaling an evolutionary era.

The 2024 iPad Pro will flaunt OLED screens sourced from tech leaders Samsung Display and LG Display. This collaboration brings together the industry’s best, signalling a product engineered to captivate with its innovative technology and superior aesthetic appeal.

However, analytical firm DSCC predicts potential supply delays for the new iPad series, possibly stretching into April. Apple’s strategy to counter this is introducing a pocket-friendly 12.9-inch iPad Air.

Initial supply shortages for the 11.1-inch iPad Pro are on the cards, yet it’s not all gloomy, as LG is set to restart production of 11.1-inch panels from April. This could balance any potential supply and demand issues and stabilize the market for this highly anticipated device.
