Sonic 3 merch leak reveals Shadow design

Shadow design

New merchandise for the upcoming movie “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” has given fans their best look yet at the character Shadow the Hedgehog. The images come from leaked toy packaging and a popcorn bucket that will be available in theaters. Shadow, voiced by Keanu Reeves in the film, first appeared in a brief post-credits scene in “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” However, these new leaks provide a more detailed view of his design for the third installment.

One leak shows a figure of Shadow that will be released in stores closer to the movie’s launch. Another leak involves a hexagon-shaped popcorn bucket featuring movie artwork, including images of Knuckles and Shadow. While the image of Shadow on the bucket is not very clear, copyright strikes on videos showcasing it suggest its authenticity.

The most detailed look at Shadow comes from a Jakks Pacific toy line leak. A render of his face appears prominently on the side of a box of figures that also includes Sonic, Knuckles, and two of Dr. Robotnik’s machines.

Shadow’s new design revealed

In the Sonic game franchise, Shadow was created by Dr. Eggman’s grandfather as the “Ultimate Life Form” with abilities surpassing Sonic’s.

After witnessing the death of Maria, Professor Gerald Robotnik’s granddaughter, Shadow initially sought revenge but later vowed to fulfill Maria’s wish of bringing peace to humanity. “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” will see the return of director Jeff Fowler and cast members Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Colleen O’Shaughnessey (Tails), Idris Elba (Knuckles), James Marsden (Tom), Tika Sumpter (Maddie), and Jim Carrey (Dr. Robotnik).

New additions include Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone. The film is set to release on December 20, 2024. Fans are excited to see how Shadow will be portrayed alongside the other characters and if he will receive his own spin-off in the future.
