Tesla is getting an update: Here’s what we know

"Enhanced Security"

Tesla has introduced a new software update that brings an array of features and improvements, covering user experience and security. The upgrade extends from enhanced autopilot navigation to improved gaming applications, aiming to provide users with a more engaging experience. The company also bolsters its security measures to protect drivers from cyber threats.

The update advantages include the transient Charge Limit, a unique feature for long trips allowing a temporary increase in Charge Limit that reverts to the original post-trip. The Scheduled Departure option is another beneficial feature, enabling an optimized charging schedule based on the planned departure time and peak electricity rates.

Furthermore, an Overheating Protection feature safeguards the vehicle interior from excessive heat by turning on air conditioning on hotter days automatically. Security with Sentry Mode is also enhanced that includes a sophisticated alarm system for added security.

In terms of practical features, the update offers Adaptive High Beams that dims some pixels of car headlights when other vehicles or cyclists are nearby, ensuring reduced glare while improving visibility. Advanced Park Assist, which allows the car to steer into a parking space automatically, is a noteworthy addition.

Security-wise, the Ultra-Wideband Phone Key Technology provides quicker and safer interactions between the vehicle and the Phone Key. This reduces the potential for unauthorized access, supports remote start, and ongoing authentication. This advanced technology underscores Tesla’s dedication to enhancing driving convenience and ensuring safety.

As for battery management, owners will receive a home-charging reminder when the charge falls below half of their Charge limit. Simultaneously, route planning is improved by estimating energy usage more precisely. These adjustments aim to provide a seamless and intuitive user experience.

Ride and Handling have been enhanced, with claims of stable response on varied road surfaces and added comfort on uneven, winding roads. Improved response on diverse road conditions and decreased discomfort due to varying road conditions heighten driving comfort.

Lastly, the update streamlines charging processes and introduces an ‘Unlock Vehicle’ button. The Trips menu redesign facilitates smoother navigation, while real-time traffic conditions are now considered when estimating arrival time. The enhanced ‘Valet Mode’ restricts sensitive vehicle functions and settings, with the ‘Fleet Management’ option for fleet owners offering a snapshot of their vehicle status and usage.
