Get Count of Records in a Recordset

Question:

How do I get the number of records from a “select * from dept where deptno = ..”? I want to know how many records are in my recordset without having to write a for loop to go through each record.

Answer:

If all you need is the count of records satisfying a particular value, change your SQL statement to read:

"SELECT COUNT(*) AS RecCount FROM dept WHERE deptno = ..."

Then check the value of Recordset(“RecCount”), and it will hold your count.
