Clear Addresses in Netscape

Clear Addresses in Netscape

Question:

In Netscape, next to the address bar is an arrow pointing down. If you click on that arrow, it displays the previous 14 addresses. How can I prevent it from displaying those addresses?

Answer:

You can do this a couple of different ways. First of all, you can use the UI features that come with Navigator. You will want to select the Edit|Preferences… menu item. Choose the “Navigator” category from the Preferences dialog box. Click the “Clear History” button. If for some reason that doesn’t work, you can go right to the source of the information and delete it from there. The information can be found in a file named “prefs.js” in this folder:

NetscapeUsers

For example, “C:Program FilesNetscapeUsersmikes” is a path on the computer that I am working on right now. Open “prefs.js” in your favorite text editor. The file contains lots of information about your preferences, including previously viewed sites. Delete the lines containing those sites from the file, save it, and reopen Navigator. Your history list should be clean.
