Question:
When connecting to an Informix database using Visual InterDev and SCO Retriever 32 ODBC, I can see tables and column names but when I try to look at data, Visual InterDev hangs. (I’m using Windows NT 4 Service Pack 4, IIS 4).
Any approaches to this?
Answer:
How big are the tables you are looking at? ODBC may be trying to retrieve some monster tables and is not really hanging, but just waiting for a long data retrieval.
Try going for a small table. If that doesn’t work, it’s probably an SCO problem. Get the Informix ODBC drivers and you’ll be better off.
As an aside, check to see whether you have the correct version of Informix for NT 4 Service Pack 4. Several people have reported problems with SP4.
