Question:
Is there a fast way to delete all the rows (in other words, truncate) the table in Informix 7.xx?
Answer:
There is no truncate command. The fastest way to do this is to use dbschema to recreate the structure of the table, create the table with a new name, and then drop the old table and use RENAME TABLE to rename the new table to the old.
It’s a bit of a kludge, but it’s a lot faster than waiting for Informix to delete a bunch of rows.
