You may need to use ORDER to force sequence numbers to be output in the order of request when you’re using them for timestamping. Most of the time, your sequence numbers will be in order anyway. If you are using exclusive mode, for example, Oracle always generates sequence numbers in order; but if you’re using Oracle with the Oracle Real Application Clusters option in parallel mode, you’ll need to guarantee ordered generation by using the ORDER command.
