Openmind Networks launches App data transfer platform Golgi with $5 million in funding

Golgi increases app loading speeds by up to 20 timesRuns on Openmind???s powerful Traffic Control platformDublin, Thursday 22nd May, 2014: Openmind Networks, the Irish mobile communications platform vendor, today announced a $5 million investment into the commercial launch of a new Software Development Kit (SDK) called Golgi (pronounced Gol-G).Golgi leverages Openmind???s powerful Traffic Control Communication platform ??? which is already used by mobile network operators, inter-carrier providers and social media global giants. Traffic Control is responsible for processing over one billion mobile messages every day. Built on Traffic Control within the Cloud, Golgi provides developers with a toolkit for App to App and App to Server rich content and function transport. Developers can now focus on App features and design rather than data transport. With built in features such as type-safe native code generation, store and forward, push notifications and end-to-end encryption – Golgi is easy to use while being battery efficient, reliable, fast and secure. Golgi provides 20x acceleration times in terms of App loading and startup times. At Openmind, the team has spent over 10 years delivering billions of mobile messages to devices every day, often in challenging wireless environments. Brian Kelly, CTO of Openmind and Golgi, explained the SDK???s origins: ???During a series of app development projects starting in 2010; Openmind realized that having to re-write and fine-tune custom data, transfer code for each app was frustrating, time-consuming, error prone and lacked extensibility. Inspired by over a decade of experience in communications, we decided to automate the code-generation process and offer a platform to ensure data transfer always worked – quickly, reliably and efficiently, saving developers significant amounts of time and helping them lose fewer users to update delays and communication errors. With Golgi, applications are always fresh.???Golgi will be very relevant to Openmind???s existing mobile operator customers who are creating, and nurturing, App ecosystems as part of their Telco API strategies. The adoption of Golgi as part of their API toolbox provides a consistent approach to App development; with critical elements such as scalability and security provided for – on a platform they already use within their network. Openmind CEO, Alex Duncan commented: ???the launch of Golgi enables Openmind to realize our vision of bridging the telco and IP world. Today, Golgi focuses on data transport. However, we will continue to leverage the powerful Traffic Control platform in many ways to support our customers??? needs in the changing telecoms environment.???Golgi is based in Mountain View, California, U.S. with regional offices in Dublin, Ireland and, Prague, Czech Republic. Brian Kelly, Openmind and Golgi CTO, will spearhead the development of Golgi in Silicon Valley.
