Baidu, the Chinese tech giant, has unveiled a new AI-powered video generator called MuseSteamer and announced significant updates to its search engine features. The launch event took place at the company’s headquarters in Beijing on Wednesday. MuseSteamer is designed to create high-quality videos from minimal input, with the goal of revolutionizing content creation for businesses, marketers, and individual creators.
The tool comes in three versions: Turbo, Pro, and Lite, each tailored to different performance levels and processing capacities. Unlike competitors such as OpenAI’s Sora, which targets consumers with subscription plans, Baidu’s MuseSteamer is specifically aimed at business users and currently does not have a consumer-focused app. Alongside the video generator, Baidu has overhauled its search engine functionalities.
The updated search engine incorporates more sophisticated AI algorithms to improve user experience by delivering more accurate and context-aware search results.

The new features include a redesigned search box that allows for longer queries and supports both voice and image-based searches.
Baidu representatives emphasized that these enhancements will make the search process faster and more relevant to users’ needs. The launch of MuseSteamer and the search engine upgrades come as Baidu faces increasing pressure from domestic rivals, such as ByteDance’s Doubao and Tencent’s Yuanbao, whose AI chatbots are gaining popularity rapidly. These new initiatives from Baidu aim to strengthen its position in the tech industry and provide more innovative tools for businesses.
In addition to MuseSteamer, Baidu recently announced the release of two new AI models: a foundation model building upon its predecessor and Ernie X1, a reasoning-focused AI designed for deep thinking. The company has also made its AI-powered chatbot, Ernie Bot, free for users and confirmed that Ernie 4.5 has become accessible via the chatbot platform, signaling Baidu’s commitment to advancing its AI capabilities. As major players in the artificial intelligence space continue to explore text-to-video and image-to-video generators, Baidu’s latest moves suggest a strategic pivot aimed at addressing both technological shifts and competitive threats within China’s rapidly evolving AI sector.
