Verizon’s announcement that it will begin selling a version on the iPhone that works on its network in February has generated a lot of buzz in the mobile application development community. They’re excited for two big reasons.
First, a Verizon phone means more sales of iPhones and thus more potential customers. By some reports, Verizon could sell as many as 10 million iPhones this year.
Second, Verizon offers better connectivity, particularly for users in big cities like New York and San Francisco. That means better performance for apps that require a constant connection, which could translate into more dollars for developers.
