Amazon Web Services (AWS) is rolling out a new feature that could help it appeal to its core audience — developers. “ElastiCache” aims to simplify some of the caching hassles associated with cloud development while speeding the performance of cloud-based applications. According to the company, “Amazon ElastiCache takes away many of the headaches of deploying, operating and scaling the caching infrastructure.”
Observers say that the new feature could help Amazon compete with the growing number of IaaS and PaaS vendors, like Heroku, DotCloud and VMware’s Cloud Foundry.
