The brainchild behind these features is SlackGPT, a specific version of generative AI designed to aid users in summarizing key discussion points out of lengthy channel content. Slack’s Chief Product Officer, Noah Weiss, unveiled these features during the Salesforce World Tour, highlighting its potential in saving valuable time and increasing productivity by understanding conversational context better.
Besides condensing chat threads, SlackGPT can also respond to natural language queries. It produces sourced responses that users can verify for accuracy, simplifying information gathering rather than sifting through enormous data. Plus, it can condense lengthy documents into understandable bites, acting more like a virtual assistant than a conventional FAQs bot.
Slack has integrated a feedback system to ensure AI efficiency, where users can rate the AI’s responses. This strategy not only helps in fine-tuning the AI but also provides engineers a way to assess its performance.
