When using PowerBuilder as a front end for doing SQL queries, I get the following pop-up message when I look for someone with a single quote in their name (i.e., O’Brien):
DataWindow ErrorSelect error: Unclosed quote before the character string 'o'.
The application will not allow me to find O’Briens, O’Connors, etc. How do I fix this?
Answer:
In your program you need to replace all single quotes within the query string with two single quotes (but not double quotes). So do a search and for every ‘ replace it with ‘ ‘ (but not “).
