Augmented reality (AR), combining digital information with the real world, has been a hot trend in mobile application development reality, but its future is still a little vague. In other words, “mobile AR is cool, but nobody really knows what it’s for, or how it will make money,” writes the Guardian.
During the recent Mobile World Congress, several likely uses for AR were suggested, including travel apps, games and other entertainment apps. However, Philipp Schloter, chief executive of developer Abukai argued for a different approach. “I always see augmented reality as a new user interface technology,” he said. This is more like the next touchscreen for mobile phones – more like the next user interface revolution.”
