At its ChefConf event, Chef unveiled a new DevOps tool called Automate. It brings together Chef's InSpec compliance tool, the Habitat application automation tool, and the traditional Chef provisioning automation tool into a single package. In addition, Automate has a built-in analytics dashboard.
The company said the new tool could make it easier for enterprise application development teams to scale their DevOps efforts. “From a core automation perspective, we want to give customers the flexibility they need, but when you move customers up to automating at scale, multiple people are touching the automation. Our goal is to make adoption and management at scale easier,” said Ken Cheney, vice president of business development at Chef.
In related news, the company also announced a new Chef certification program.
