Details on New Microsoft Development Tools Coming in November

Microsoft has begun sharing information about its next operating system, Windows 10, but so far it has remained fairly quiet about application development tooling to support the OS. Based on information from unnamed sources, ZDNetā€˜s Mary Jo Foley is reporting that those details could emerge in November. The company is said to be planning a developer event in New York on November 12, where it is likely to unveil the beta for the next update to Visual Studio, codenamed Visual Studio 14.

For now, Microsoft is telling enterprise application development teams that ā€œthe best way to prepare for Windows 10 is to keep building universal Windows apps.ā€

Microsoft plans to hold its next Build developer conference in April 2015, and it expects to ship an update to the Visual Studio IDE sometime next year.
