QuickBase has released its second annual State of Citizen Development Report, which finds that citizen developers are becoming more important to enterprises. “The future of work is more automated and nimble, and companies (software and otherwise) that embrace new trends like citizen development will see gains in time, costs and efficiencies,” said John Carione, product and industry marketing leader for QuickBase.

Key takeaways from the report included the following:

  • 76 percent of citizen developers consider app development a strategic part of their job.
  • 40 percent of organizations say enterprise application development goes twice as fast when citizen developers are involved.
  • Citizen development is becoming more customer-facing.
