The developer behind Android++ has released it under an open source license and made it available on GitHub. Android++ is an extension for Microsoft's Visual Studio IDE that provides a native development and debugging environment for Android.

Android ++ creator Justin Web said the goal of the tool is to make it easier for those in the mobile development industry to create Android apps. “Large numbers of these developers worldwide use Visual Studio as their primary IDE, either by preference, or other external factors,” he wrote. “The goal of Android++ is to assist and transition those developers to target the Android platform by providing the ability for them to use their existing skills and working practices.”
