React Native Comes to Windows

The framework now has support from Microsoft and Samsung.

Many in the mobile development industry use Facebook's React Native framework to build user interfaces for Android and iOS apps; now React Native is coming to Windows 10 and Tizen. Microsoft and Samsung have both announced support for the UI framework.

In a blog post, Microsoft said that its Visual Studio code editor will support React Native, but it will use the Chakra JavaScript engine as its runtime rather than using Node.js. Microsoft's Universal Windows Platform packaging system will also support React Native, meaning that it will be easy to use React Native to create Xbox and HoloLens apps as well as Windows 10 apps.

Samsung's Tizen has a small user base, but the operating system does run on some smart TVs and smartwatches, which will now support apps built with React Native.
