Amazon S3 Becomes More Developer-Friendly

Amazon is adding a new feature called Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) to its S3 cloud storage capabilities. The tool will make it easier to build Web applications that can access data from the cloud computing service, eliminating the need for running a custom proxy server between Web applications and S3. For example, developers will be able to access fonts and images created for one site on other sites that they own.

There is no extra charge for CORS, but before they can use it, developers will have to create an XML document specifying the rules for which sites can access their S3 data. Pricing for S3 begins at $0.125 per gigabyte per month.
